About us
We are the Education Committee in Shri VJSW Sangh. Our goal is to provide learning opportunities to all age groups of Shri Sangh covering various aspects of Jain Darshan, academics, culture, and daily household life. These should include but not be limited to avashyak sutra, kriya, as well as advanced granths such as Jeev Vichar, Nav tattva, and Karma Granth, mother-tongue languages, history, culture, arts, cooking, and parenting. We also want to provide platform for grandparents to pass on their wisdom. We believe in putting all the efforts to provide all round development of Shri Sangh members.
Current Activities
In-person Pathsala: We conduct a in-person pathsala every Saturday's from 11:30am - 12:30am. On a high level, we use 30 mins for telling story and 30 minutes for teaching sutra. For sutra we start with samayik sutras starting from Navkar Mantra. We also conduct astaprakari pooja with kids every few weeks.
Upcoming Activities
Story Saturdays: Special in-person story telling sessions for kids up to 6 years old. Kids are attracted towards stories and pick up a lot of lessons from them. Jijamata used to tell stories of Hindu men and women to young Shivaji to build values of courage, valor, and pride. Spending 2-3 years telling stories to kids who are in this period helps with their moral development. And so we want to offer in-person classes for kids upto 6 years of age to just attend and listen to stories.
Teenage Pathsala: Monthly/Biweekly english pathsala for teenagers with scholars from Mumbai. Teenagers have many questions with them and are genuinely interested in learning in depth about Jain Darshan. We want to provide a platform for them to satisfy their curiousity and connect with Arihanta Paramatma. We are working towards bringing in scholars who are conducting classes in english and have experience working with teenagers.
